Stéphane and Fransiska takes place in the mountain-village surgery of the Zuffereys, a married couple, both doctors with four children, who have chosen to practise their profession in the Val d’Anniviers. This couple’s work extends from traumatology to pediatry, including internal medicine and mountain-rescue emergencies. In addition, there are delicate organisational problems, especially in winter, when the population doubles because of holiday-makers.
